A very comprehensive in-depth study of the age old tale of Atlantis..But this book goes further into the origins of the myth,which is quite an eye opener. Well worth adding to your collection.

well written but....

The arguments for Atlantis are sound.... Which I totally expected. There are however no pictures or maps/diagrams. This is unfortunate because the narrative constantly refers to them. The Kindle is perfectly capable of showing pictures so why they are left out is beyond me? Unless it is a policy that they do not bother with them for 'free' books? Otherwise apart from that it was a good read.

Food for the imagination

Every so often in the history of Literature, a piece of writing comes along which shines brightly enough through the decades (and even centuries that follow) to continue to impress, inform and inspire. This is such a book. The writer had to have an active imagination the perceive and express the potential from each fragment of information from ancient sources. Such a creation shines clearly, like the Lighthouse of Alexandria and surely it belonged in the library of that once great City of antiquity. "There was an island (Atlantis) situated in front of the Straits which you call the 'Columns of Hercules'. The island was larger than Libya and Asia put together and was the way to other islands, and from the islands you might pass to the opposite continent." - These were the words of the Priest Solon which Donnelly quotes from antiquity, but which locates (then undiscovered) America correctly. If the whereabouts of America were known, then why not also Atlantis?
